Our Music Development Plan

Music is at the heart of our school community at St Martin de Porres Catholic Primary School, and our Music Development Plan sets out our vision for providing exceptional musical opportunities for every child. From weekly worship and Songs of Praise, to choir performances at major venues like Birmingham Symphony Hall and Young Voices at the NEC, we celebrate music as a vital part of learning and spiritual life. Our plan includes specialist teaching for all classes, instrumental tuition in violin, fife, flute, recorders, and guitar, and exciting experiences such as live performances from professional musicians and an annual Cultural Evening featuring music from around the world. Looking ahead, we aim to introduce new instruments for whole-class teaching, create fresh performance opportunities, and embed poetry into musical presentations, ensuring our music provision continues to grow and inspire.
